Grilled Apples

Apples make some of the best baked desserts. But they're also great for grilling. Grilled Apples are easy to prepare and full of flavor. They are the perfect accompaniment to grilled pork or poultry and make for a sweet dessert.

  • Buy ingredients available from Lobel's

    2-3 apples (Granny Smith, Fuji, Crispin, etc.), cored and cut into 1/2-inch slices
    2 oz. maple syrup butter, or other flavored compound butter such as cinnamon butter
    1/2 cup dark brown sugar

Directions

    In a small sauce pan over medium heat, combine the butter and brown sugar until melted and stir until smooth.
    Brush one side of the apple slices to coat with the butter-sugar mixture.
    Pre-heat your grill to medium.
    Place the apple slices on the grill butter-sugar side down. Then brush the facing side with the butter-sugar mix.
    Grill for 2-3 minutes per side.

Tips:

This recipe will also work with other grilled fruits, such as peaches, pears, pineapple, honeydew melon, and cantaloupe.
